Goddess Aphrodite

Aphrodite is an ancient Greek goddess associated with love, lust, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation. To the Romans she was the goddess Venus. Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtles, roses, doves, sparrows, and swans. The the lore of Aphrodite was largely derived from the Phoenician goddess Astarte, the East Semitic goddess Ishtar, and on the Sumerian cult of Inanna. Her main festival was the Aphrodisia, which was celebrated annually at midsummer.
